SUMMARY:

The Health and Nutrition Officer is responsible to Oversee implementation of project activities in health and nutrition. She/he will be involved in training, supervising, and assisting health and nutrition field staff to ensure the best possible health and nutrition services. She/he will work in constant collaboration with ADRA Health Coordinator and Nutrition Coordinator, District and Governorate Ministry of health, other local authorities, and community members in order to share health and nutrition issues so as to improve/promote the health and nutrition of the vulnerable groups from the targeted communities.

Under the direct supervision of the Health Coordinator and Nutrition Coordinator, the Health Nutrition Officer will be available for Supervising Health Units to ensure service delivery, the running, management, and technical support.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The “Health and Nutrition Officer” will be responsible but not limited to:

  • Conduct technical support visits to the health facilities to ensure that maternal and child health services are being provided according to national standards and protocols, ensure all beneficiaries in the health and nutrition program receive care and treatment in accordance with MoPHP guidelines.  
  • Ensure the implementation of a quality health and nutrition program in the target health facilities and outreach sites in accordance with acceptable national and international standards.
  • Provide supportive supervision visits for health and nutrition activities with in coordination with MoPHP.
  • Provide capacity building and on the job training to health care staff in the health facilities and in the outreach sites and ensure the Yemen standard treatment guidelines and protocols are adhered.
  • Submit timely and accurate monthly consumption report for all health teams and sites and coordinate all logistics requirements with the logistic team including food and medicines dispatch. Distribution plan and storage.
  • Ensure all health facilities have appropriate stock management cards and cross check this with supply consumption registers for any discrepancies.
  • Ensure all facilities have basic health equipment’s and registers and raise any requisitions needed.
  • Work in close collaboration with the MoPHP, GHO and DHO to organize trainings for HF staff, CHW, CHVs, mobile teams.
  • Ensure proper registration and admission/discharge of OTP/TSFP patients including ongoing monitoring on patients.
  • Train and support the health and nutrition team in managing paper work (food & medicines tracking documents, ration cards and registration books.
  • Work in close collaboration with the MoPHP, GHO and district focal points and ensure reports are submitted accurately and timely by all health facilities using the Data Department tools.
  • Conduct supportive supervision to ensure program quality, accurate health data reporting and appropriate use of medical drugs.
  • Compile and submit quality supervision report with action points after each supervision report and follow up on the action points.
  • Ensure enough supplies are available in all health facilities and there is no stock out by conducting regular stock taking and monitoring.
  • Prepare weekly, biweekly and monthly progress reports and statistic reports for submission to the Nutrition Specialist and Health Specialist.
  • Ensure proper documentation of achievements, lessons learnt, and best practices throughout the program implementation.
  • Support the development of work plans, reporting and monitoring and evaluation plans.
  • Participate in planning, coordination and execution of M&E activities such as surveys, monthly and quarterly follow up and quality assurance.
  • Report any problems in a timely manner to the health specialist and nutrition specialist.
  • Ensure timely reporting of activities (narrative and data) in accordance with set deadlines.
  • Collect reporting/data inputs from mobile teams and community outreach volunteers and compile results weekly.
  • Perform other relevant duties as assigned by the Direct Supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in medicine, public health. 
  • Minimum 3 years of Experience in health/nutrition programming or related field.
  • Excellent English and Arabic Languages (Writing and speaking) are required.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (MS Excel and MS PowerPoint, in particular).
  • Reporting Skills are Required.
