Position Summary


Under the supervision of the MEAL officer, the MEAL assistant will make sure to maintain an effective monitoring, evaluation, accountability and learning system of RI projects. The tasks include routine monitoring of activities, providing monitoring reports, conducting field visits to ensure compliance with established standards and requirements.

Essential Position Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Perform regular field visits to ensure the quality of activities implemented and data collected and suggest ways for improvement;
  • Assist the MEAL officer to ensure regular follow-up of the  project indicator trackers and MEAL plans;
  • Assist the MEAL officer in preparing project monthly reports;
  • Participate in RI’s assessment, baseline, end-line, KAP studies as instructed by the MEAL officer;
  • Participate in developing MEAL department annual plans;
  • Develop and maintain databases when required;
  • Ensure proper data collection, entry and analysis of projects;
  • Monitor data quality and keep tracking the progress of projects activities;
  • Assist the MEAL officer in pre and post distribution monitoring for projects if any;
  • Assist the MEAL officer in conducting the labor market assessment study, hire and train enumerators, supervise data collection, analyze data and prepare the final report;
  • Follow up with the project IPTT, collect MoVs, follow up with the data team;
  • Maintain a proper electronic and hard archiving system of all related MEAL documents with the assistance of the MEAL assistant;
  • Review the performance of existing management information systems to help identify ‎potential modifications, improvement or information resources;
  • Make sure all CFM materials are in place, conduct CFM awareness sessions and collect complaints in a monthly basis;
  • Handle administrative tasks including permits, PRs, TORs, etc and archive them electronically and in office;
  • Assist in verification of data and provide advice;
  • Perform other relevant tasks as required by the MEAL Coordinator .

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Diploma ’s degree in relevant field;
  • Minimum 1 years of previous experience in managing data and/or MEAL in complex emergency programs for NGO/INGOs;
  • Very good command of English (writing & speaking);
  • Self-motivation and commitment to deliver results;
  • Excellent analysis skills;
  • Knowledge of qualitative and quantitative research methods;
  • Understanding of humanitarian programming and reporting;
  • High standards of accountability;
  • Ability to work individually and within a team.

  • Willing and able to work under pressure, in challenging situations, with security risks, and to manage personal stress levels
  • Able to adapt communication strategies for different situations.
  • Willing to work extra hours when needed.
  • Collaborate with other RI teams in the other RI projects to assist them in implement their activities.
