Requirements for the position

Education:

• Essential Electrician diploma or recognized formal training

Experience:

• Previous working experience as an electrician required (minimum 2 years’ experience)
• Desirable in MSF or another NGO

Languages:

• Essential Arabic and English

Other:

• Desirable computer literacy (Word, Excel, and Internet)

Description

Place of work: ALQANAWIS, Hodeidah governorate, Republic of Yemen

Level: 5

Duration: One year fixed-term contract with the possibility of extension. Subjected to a probationary period as per the Yemen labor law.

Others: Salary: Based on the organization scale

Main objectives: Performing autonomously, complex/advanced installation and maintenance of electrical and other energy systems in all MSF facilities across the mission (offices, health structures, warehouses, etc., according MSF standards and procedures, in order to ensure proper functioning and maintenance of MSF equipment and installations.

Main responsibilities and tasks:

• Ensures all electrical installations in MSF project facilities comply with MSF standards and performing autonomously and ensuring, all necessary complex/advanced electrical installations, maintenance, and repairs, according to the supervisor’s instructions. This includes the following tasks:
• Carries out critical rehabilitation tasks and corrective maintenance interventions and the coordination and execution of required tasks as well as installation of needed electrical equipment as defined by each project. Elaborating the necessary documentation for carrying out energy installations projects (plans, list of materials, etc.)
• Carries out and updates the electrical installations inventory in MSF missions’ facilities and performs annual maintenance procedures and safety checks across facilities in the project. Executes any needed tests after any repair or maintenance.
• Identifies local technical actors, and organizing their participation in the project (training of technical staff, establishes relations with local companies, contractors and suppliers, quotations, contracts, etc.)
• Suggests any repair or maintenance work needed in MSF electrical installations and equipment and assists logistics department with any urgent support/advice or any relative work needed
• Manages the stock of consumable items related to electrical installation, repairs, and maintenance, fills in the stock cards, carries out physical stock inventories, executes orders necessary for renewing stock, avoids any shortage
• Responsible for the equipment and tools checking they are correctly and safely used, maintaining and renewing them when necessary and keeping the inventory updated.
• Keeps working area clean and tidy.
• Ensures that all record sheets and books related to maintenance are always completed and prepares needed reports before and after any repair or required maintenance.
• Follows a weekly checklist/plan of revision:
  • Reviews and corrects condition of panels,
  • ensures sockets match the appliances in the service,
  • checks UPS and regulators in all services,
  • corrects any faulty or unprotected connection.
  • verifies proper security lighting around the hospital and base at night.
• Informs immediately the line management of any inconsistencies or discrepancies occurring in the hospital, base that require the intervention of higher hierarchy.
• Collaborates with the Logistics Supervisors (Base and Hospital) for additional logistical support where necessary.
• Delivers a monthly report on activities done and plans for the next month
