A Teacher Mentor is an advocate for a teacher with a core mission to help the teacher excel. Your primary objective is to help the teacher create a positive and supportive learning experience that produces outcomes and results in higher retention of students. You will provide academic support for a caseload of teachers with an average of 100 teachers per mentor. This position is an online job opportunity for an Independent Contractor where you will be working fixed shifts for 8 hours 6 days per week from home.
- Set short and long-term goals for teachers and analyze what works and what doesn't and why.
- Develop the teacher's capacity to reflect and learn from experiences.
- Develop strategies and tools to help teachers excel and reach their full potential including tips, video training sessions, online tours, etc.
- Provide the teacher with pertinent information about IQRA's mission, the student community, regulations, policies, professional norms, rules, and procedures.
- Familiarize the teacher with all forms, and reports that teachers are responsible for keeping.
- Share information about the curriculum, available instructional material, planning, and pacing.
- Provide suggestions and guidelines on content and teaching methods.
- Model high-quality instructional practices and allow the teacher to observe different teaching styles.
- Regularly evaluate teachers and calculate KPIs.
- Provide communication, problem-solving, decision-making, conflict resolution, and teaching skills support for teachers.
- Report to the Department Director and communicate with other departments including but not limited to accounting, academic coaching, support, etc.
- Attend regular weekly meetings with the department director and staff.
- Act as a primary contact linking teachers to the rest of the organization.
- Handle educational logistics and procedures for teachers including but not limited to initial evaluations, vacations, schedule adjustments including cancellations and rescheduling, student transfers, accurately updating teacher data and logs, etc.
2-3 years working experience. Experience in mentorship positions in an educational organization is preferred.Bachelor’s Degree, preferably with a major in counseling, social work, and psychologyExcellent communication and analytical skills.Knowledge of and advocacy for the mission of Islamic EducationExcellent Internet connectivity and access to a quiet space.Ability to work late hours is preferred.
