  • Develop world class maintenance practices for underground equipment, based on previous practical experience, to provide customer satisfaction by carrying “out hands” on technical analysis, troubleshooting and repairs, on site and in the underground mine, always sharing working methods developed through experience, with local staff to develop their skills.
  • Provide classroom or theoretical technical training and mentoring of local staff to develop their skills and therefore increase the number of staff capable of working on this specialized equipment and field. 
  • Liaise with customers site management to determine what support the customer would like Mantrac to provide. 
  • Develop and assess major repair or rebuild works and develops plans to maintain agreed equipment availability and budget requirements where applicable. 
  • Ensure optimum utilization of labor, using planned repair times from past experience, including subcontract labor.
  • If not fully utilized on Underground work assists with other dealership technical and site performance management work.
  • Throughout the assembly phase, liaises with Mantrac – Unatrac sales departments, local contractors, staff, Mantrac, customers staff and management.
  • Install / connect Cat or other technology products on the equipment.
  • Configure and set up wireless connections.
  • Register and set up systems access to products and set up reporting.
  • Ensure auto reporting is correctly configured and reports are provided to the correct people.
  • Provide training on system usage, correct understanding of reports.
  • Analyse all system data as required and investigate the reason for events.  Take or suggest corrective action if required.
  • Manage the health of the equipment and assess any problems using available resource or contacting suppliers.
  • Ensure oil samples are taken at every service, reports analyzed and acted upon.
  • Ensure fuel samples are taken on a scheduled basis and sent for analysis.
  • Ensure daily inspections are carried out on all equipment as required by the manufacturer or industry standard.
  • Ensure load data is monitored and recorded for analysis and reporting, weekly & monthly.
  • If required write suggested parts stock lists for a site, branch or territory.
  • Oversee site supply chain issues to ensure parts & lubricant requirements are met.
  • Provide a monthly report covering all work carried out, key areas of opportunity and key issues for development or continuous improvement.
  • Write reports for all site visits showing, opportunities for future product support or prime business, further technical support requirement, further training and follow-up actions to be taken and the timeline for future follow up meetings.
  • Run site assessments for both maintenance and production studies.
  • Assist with equipment warranty issues so that contractual arrangements are adhered to and assist the Service Department Management in achieving fair and reasonable warranty cost settlements.
  • Provide "toolbox" sessions for site staff when on site.
  • Maintain a positive relationship with customer’s key decision makers to influence their future purchases of prime products.
  • Ensure that repair target hours are achieved or reduced without a negative impact on quality.
  • Provide technical support to staff on the ground to ensure troubleshooting is carried out accurately.
  • Ensure all rebuild standards and procedures are adhered to.
  • Supervise and train staff on the job to ensure repairs and services are carried out correctly.
  • Provide technical advice to other operations as and when needed.
  • Carry out safety tests to ensure all safety systems are working correctly.
  • Document all safety steps taken before working equipment, risk analysis, take five etc.
  • Ensure Mantrac Safety standards are maintained as a minimum at all times.
  • Ensure all site mandatory requirements are met e.g. safety and site inductions.
  • Ensure all practical regulations are followed on each site, including underground staff tagging and LOTTO.
  • Ensure all site mandatory requirements are met with regard to environmental control.

Bachelor's degree of mechanical or electrical engineering.Min. 10 years of experience of repairing and maintaining Caterpillar underground mining equipment.knowledge of all systems on Caterpillar R2900, R1700, AD55, AD40 such as underground drills and utility machines.Knowledge of other Cat systems such as HIS, VIMS and SOS interpretation.Excellent command of English language.
