ABOUT ARDD

Founded in 2008 in Amman-Jordan, Arab Renaissance for Democracy and Development (ARDD) is a Civil Society Organization seeking to reinitiate a new Nahda (Arab Renaissance) project to contribute to addressing the challenges faced by the Arab World, building on the achievements and ideas of the Arab Nahda and aiming to open the doors for future participation in formulating concrete actions to achieve the desired change and development. ARDD supports marginalized individuals and communities—including refugees and migrants— in acquiring and enjoying their social, political, and economic rights, through legal aid, psychosocial support, media and grassroots mobilization, and research and advocacy to raise stakeholders’ awareness locally, regionally and internationally about the challenges that vulnerable persons face in Jordan and the Arab Region. JOB PURPOSE:

The Arab Renaissance for Democracy and Development (ARDD) is currently seeking a dynamic Senior Program Development Officer to develop and expand existing programs and projects. The Senior Program Development Officer will be responsible for actively raising funds from current and prospective donors, with the aim to expand existing programs and projects and meet the organization´s priorities and targets.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

Program Development and Fundraising

  • Design the annual and a multi-annual fundraising strategy based on the ARDD’s strategic plan, in close consultation with the Program Management Department and the Monitoring and Evaluation team
  • Actively seek new sources of funding through online research and outreach to current and prospective donors
  • Respond to funding opportunities for projects and programs, based on the organization’s annual fundraising strategy
  • Seek in-kind and pro-bono support from relevant donors and service providers
  • Draft proposals (including concept notes and budgets) for funding, upon approval of the CEO and in line with donor requirements, in close cooperation and consultation with ARDD’s Finance Department and Program Management Department
  • Supervise the drafting of proposals by the Program Development Officer and approve for submission to CEO
  • Attend fundraising activities and events

Donor Relations and Reporting:

  • Actively build collaborative relationships with national and international government agencies, key stakeholders and other like-minded organizations at the national, regional and international level with view to building partnerships and financial support for ARDD's work
  • Build strategic partnerships with private sector partners
  • Maintain ongoing communication with donors
  • Conduct negotiations regarding contracts with donors, grant cash-flow requirements, cost recovery requirements and potential funding gaps
  • Supervise development and update of the donor database representing the local and regional community with a view to expanding ARDD's services
  • Support and participate in internal and external audit requirements

Coordination:

  • Oversee, supervise and approve the Development and update of ARDD’s reporting plans, including a timetable for financial reporting and audits
  • Ensure that all projects are implemented on time and with the intended outputs, in close coordination and cooperation with the Program Management and with the Monitoring and Evaluation Officer
  • Provide guidance and advice to the Program Management Department to ensure timely and accurate reporting to donors, in line with donor requirements
  • Provide guidance and advice to implementing partners ARDD field staff in relation to donor requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Human Rights, Social Science,  Political Science or other Development-related field; related field (Relevant Master degree will be an asset)
  • A minimum of 10 years related experience and/or training  in Fundraising, Grant Management ,Financial Management, Project Design & Management  and submittal of financial bids in a national or an international NGOs or organizations.

SKILLS:

  • Demonstrate success in writing proposals and grant applications
  • Demonstrate ability to produce financial estimates and reports to a high level of accuracy and professional presentation
  • Solid knowledge of donor requirements 
  • Demonstrate success in raising funds and managing bilateral/multilateral grants and contracts;
  • Solid knowledge of development issues in Jordan and the Arab region
  • Demonstrate project management skills (including skills in time management and task prioritization)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrate skills in the organization of fundraising events
  • Demonstrate success in building effective networks and relationships to engage donors, governments, and other stakeholders to support project objectives
  • Experience of maintaining and creating databases
  • Excellent IT skills
  • Excellent English language skills
  • Self-motivated and able to work with limited supervision
  • Ability to work under pressure as part of a professional team
  • Experience working in a cross-cultural environment
