- Conduct pre-use inspections of lifting equipment (cranes, hoists, slings, rigging gear) in accordance with relevant regulations and industry standards (e.g., ASME B30, EN 13000)
- Verify equipment certifications, maintenance records, and load capacity limitations
- Review lifting plans and procedures for potential risks and ensure compliance with safe lifting practices
- Inspect rigging configurations, ensuring proper selection, use, and capacity of slings, shackles, and other lifting gear
- Witness and oversee lifting operations, identifying and addressing any safety concerns
- Investigate incidents and near-misses related to lifting activities to identify root causes and recommend preventative measures
- Maintain detailed inspection reports and documentation
- Participate in developing and implementing lifting safety programs and procedures
- Provide technical guidance and training to less experienced personnel on safe lifting practices
- Stay up-to-date on the latest lifting technologies, regulations, and best practices.
